This week the ASBC community had a terrific win. Governor Brown signed The Cleaning Products Right to Know Act which will create a new standard for ingredient transparency for cleaning supplies. And due to the size of the California market, it is likely these standards will become de facto standards for the Nation.
Many ASBC member businesses, including Seventh Generation, the Honest Company, Earth Friendly Product, Beautycounter, Dr. Bronners, Intex Solutions, The Ashkin Group, Socialwise, and more fought hard to make this happen. They negotiated the details of the bill, made phones calls, attended meetings in Sacramento, wrote letters, and even cornered legislators at cocktail parties. This success shows that when businesses advocate together, change happens!
